To place a steel cross-brace:

Select the Place Steel X-Brace tool.
Select the first column for the brace.
Select the second column for the brace and accept it.
Select the top horizontal member to bound the brace and accept it.
If Prompt for Bottom Beam is turned on, select the bottom beam and accept it. The cross-brace is drawn in the model.
Click Reset.
